French operator "Storengy" will carry out a technical audit of Ukrainian gas storage facilities within the framework of a comprehensive study of Ukrainian UGS. The project is funded by the European Union and aims at developing a sustainable economic approach to the use of Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities in the context of the European and Ukrainian energy markets. This is informed by the press service of "Naftogaz".
"Storengy" - one of the leading gas storage operators in the world, will carry out a technical audit of each facility. After analyzing the initial data, the team will visit the repository and prepare a detailed technical assessment, "said in a message.
Naftogaz participates in the work of the project steering committee, along with other interested parties, including representatives of the Government of Ukraine. "We are grateful to the European Commission for its continued assistance in implementing the gas market reform in Ukraine. This project will enable us to bring the best consultants to the development of an optimal strategy for a unique gas storage infrastructure in Ukraine," commented Andriy Kobolev, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz. The study envisages forecasting demand for gas storage services for the next 20 years and the study of Ukraine's potential in the market for gas storage facilities. Based on the results obtained, several strategic scenarios for optimal use of Ukrainian PSGs will be developed.
