Ukraine seeks to stabilize situation in Donbas

Ukraine will use its membership in the Security Council of the United Nations to stabilize the situation in the east.

This was stated by President Petro Poroshenko in an interview with three national TV channels.
Despite the truce, the President does not exclude the likelihood of a new escalation of the conflict. According to him, in this case, Ukraine will have to return to the proposal to give our state support of UN peacekeeping troops.

On October 15 Ukraine was elected a member of the UN Security Council for the term of two years. Approval of candidacy for non-permanent member of the Security Council
takes place by not less than two-thirds of votes. 177 countries voted for Ukraine.
