Amnesty law for ATO participants applied to 532 people

The provisions of the Law "On Amnesty in 2016" were applied to 532 people in relation to those who defended the territorial integrity of Ukraine, took direct part in the ATO and in ensuring its implementation.

The press service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine reports.

"Due to the active position of the military prosecutors as of 07.12.2017, the provisions of the law have been applied to 532 people, of which: while maintaining a public prosecution in the courts - to about 452 people, while supervising the execution of sentences - to 80 people", - the statement said.

As it is known, the law determines the grounds for dismissal of persons from serving a sentence on the basis of an act of amnesty, the mechanism of interaction of the criminal-executive service with state authorities, local self-government bodies and courts.

The law extends, first of all, to the most vulnerable and socially vulnerable categories of defendants and convicts, however, a separate place is given to release of persons who defended Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, took direct part in the anti-terrorist operation, and ensured its implementation.
