Canada should announce its intention to introduce visa-free travel for citizens of Ukraine.
This is stated in the report "Canadian support of Ukraine during the crisis and armed conflict" prepared by the Canadian Parliament's Defense Committee, said Ukrinform.
"We recommend the Canadian government to announce a plan to grant Ukrainians the right to travel to Canada without visas," the document says.
Deputies also propose to renew the program of youth mobility, suspended several years ago. According to the authors of the report, this will further enhance the cooperation between Canada and Ukraine in the field of economy and culture.
Recall that in the fall of 2010, then-Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, during his first visit to Ukraine, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Canada on youth exchanges. The document introduced a simplified regime for mutual travel of the youth of both countries for the purpose of study and employment. However, after a few years, the Memorandum has been suspended and has not yet been reinstated.
