The 5th Summit of the European Union and the Eastern Partnership countries started in Brussels. The Ukrainian government delegation at the high-level meeting is headed by President Petro Poroshenko. Key issues of the summit are strengthening energy security and promoting visa liberalization.
Our correspondent Andriy Lavrenyuk reports from Brussels:
"Most of the national delegations, which are 28 EU member states and six eastern partners, are represented at the level of heads of state and government. At the same time, the presidents of France, Belarus and the prime ministers of Italy, Spain and the Netherlands have not arrived at the summit.
"The summit is an opportunity to continue the progress of the Eastern Partnership policy and discuss further steps that the EU and its eastern partners can take together by 2020," the European Council said.
The presence of a significant number of European leaders in the Belgian capital has become a good opportunity for Ukrainian and Belarusian activists and friends of Ukraine in Europe to hold a demonstration in central Brussels in order to attract the attention of politicians and the public to Russian aggression against Ukraine and the Kremlin's hybrid war against Europe.
