In Vinntytsia, due to adverse climatic changes, coniferous trees have got dried up on 28% of the planting area.
This was announced at a meeting of the Collegium of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development, Ecology and Natural Resources of the regional state administration by the head of the Department of Land Conservation, Natural Resources and Environmental Expertise of Vinnytsia Regional State Administration Andriy Magera.
"A serious problem in the region is the drying up of coniferous plantations, which is found on an area of about 9.5 thousand hectares, which is about 28% of the total area of these plantations," said Magera. According to him, the causes of drying up are climate change, as a result of which there was a decrease in ground water, as well as the change of the hydro-regime of the soil.
In addition, the high temperature regime has led to a sharp increase in the evaporation of moisture from trees. Unfavorable climatic conditions lead to the spread of diseases of coniferous plants - root and stem rot, which are spread by plant pests (bark beetles).
