The detention of Ukrainian border guards by Russia on a neutral territory is nothing more than an act of terrorism, the Russian side has to free them.
This is what NSDC secretary Oleksandr Turchinov stressed on.
According to him, this case testifies to the need for systemic defense of the Ukrainian-Russian border, "because such provocations can be anywhere at the border."
As reported, on October 3, two employees of the State Border Service of Ukraine disappeared in Sumy region near the border with Russia. Later, Russia officially confirmed the detention of two Ukrainian border guards. The Ukrainian consul was refused to talk with the detainees. It was explained by the fact that their personalities were not established then. Later Slobodian,an assistant to the head of the State Border Service of Ukraine, said that the Russian side agreed to a border-representative meeting on the fate of the detained border guards. The Ukrainian side expressed its objection in writing in connection with the violation of protocol agreements by Russia.
