The Strategy for Sustainable Development "Ukraine-2020" provides for winning 35 medals by Ukrainian athletes at the Summer Olympics-2020 in Tokyo. This figure - one of the 25 key indicators for assessing the progress of reforms and programs within this strategy implementation. Ukraine placed 31st in the team medal count on the 2016 Summer Olympic Games hosted by Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.In these Olympics Ukrainian sportsmen and sportswomen won 11 medals: two gold medals, five silver medals and four bronze medals. Some 205 athletes in 27 sports represented the Ukrainian squad.
Decree approving the strategy of sustainable development "Ukraine-2020" was signed by President Petro Poroshenko in January last year.
