PGO to appeal against court's decision on Saakashvili's restraint measure

Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko does not agree with the decision of the courts in cases concerning the ex-governor of the Odessa Regional State Administration Mihail Saakashvili and the former rector of the University of the State Tax Service, Petro Melnyk.

He stated this during a briefing.

"I believe that we have provided enough evidence to make decisions in one case about house arrest, in the other one - an accusation of corruption and theft of state property," Yuriy Lutsenko said.

And he stressed that "the appellate courts will be further ".

Recall Borodyanka district court of Kyiv region found non guilty and acquitted ex-rector of the National University of State Tax Service Petro Melnyk, who was threatened with up to 12 years imprisonment. And in Kyiv, the Pechersk District Court, which had to choose a restraint measure for Mikheil Saakashvili, did not satisfy the petition of the prosecution party on round-the-clock house arrest for a two-month term for the politician.
